Club Statement – Response to Covid-19 crisis

In the light of the suspension of National League South football since 14th March – now extended indefinitely, and the shutdown of leisure and gym businesses due to the Covid-19 crisis, most day-to-day activities have now ceased at Bath City Football Club.

Therefore we have asked all players, football coaching staff, bar management and office staff to temporarily cease working under the Government’s furlough scheme until such time as the scheme ends or business returns sufficiently to normal. The Club is immensely grateful to every single one of our players and staff for agreeing to these changes to their employment, to help Bath City get through this immense challenge.

We are also grateful to all the fans who have contributed to the Player Pledge and bought season tickets or merchandise, companies that are participating in the Shirt Sponsor Draw and the Supporters Society and Supporters Club for their contributions to Club funds. While we expect to get Government support to help us through this period, it won’t pay for everything and we don’t expect any of those funds until late April at the earliest, so the cash we receive now is critical to paying our people and our bills.

The online club shop, season ticket sales, the Player Pledge and the Shirt Sponsor Draw, as well as our website, newsletter and social media, will all continue to operate through this time, staffed by volunteers. Shane Morgan will also continue to look after the stadium and ensure remaining activity including the Blood Service sessions are able to take place.

People under furlough cannot work for the Club during this time, so you won’t be hearing from Jerry, Carole or any of the players in an official capacity for now, but they all continue to greatly value everyone’s support for Bath City and can’t wait to get back to normal times again.

Thank you for everyone’s support, patience and understanding through this crisis. The Club will get through this with your help and, most importantly, we hope that you are all keeping safe and well.
