City end pre-season in Bull-ish mood

City wrapped up their pre-season campaign this afternoon with a 2-1 win at National League North side Hereford FC. A heavy downpour right on kick-off added an extra zip to the excellent Edgar Street pitch as both sides took a while to settle into the game but it was City who struck first on 33 minutes. Mo Touray took advantage of hesitation in the hosts back line to lift the ball past keeper Hall and roll it home from a narrow angle. Six minutes later Touray turned provider, his pass sending Cody Cooke clear on goal to net his seventh goal of pre-season. The Bulls pulled a goal back in the 51st minute when unmarked substitute Kouhyar headed past Ryan Clarke from six yards out. Hereford pushed for an equaliser after this, with the goalscorer flashing a shot just wide after a great turn and Clarke having to scramble another long range effort away. Apart from those chances though City looked comfortable in dealing with the home side’s threat to see out their sixth win in nine pre-season outings and all thoughts can now turn to the opening league game of the 2021-22 season at home to Billericay Town in seven days time.
