Moran and Burridge ensure City end season on winning note

First half goals from Clodagh Moran and Rosie Burridge were enough as Bath City Women ended their season on a high with victory at Downend Flyers.

The depleted Romans nearly opened the scoring when Amy Key’s corner came back off the post and somehow wasn’t forced in, before they found a way through just shy of the half hour. Moran turned into space 30 yards out and her fierce strike was too hot to handle for Eve Herriman in the home goal. Rosie Burridge made it two just before half-time when Tara Taylor’s persistence preceded a ball down the right, which the centre-back darted onto and steered into the bottom corner.

Burridge wildly blazed off target after the break in a half of few chances, though Downend made their main one count with five minutes remaining when Orla Montgomery’s free-kick was neatly headed home by Annabel Bean. City didn’t encounter any further scares as they closed out the campaign with a third win in four matches.

City Women’s Development side have one final game to play when they face Pen Mill at Peasdown St John Recreation Ground next Sunday.
