Twerton crowd back for Cardiff masterclass

Twerton Park welcomed supporters for the first time in 489 days this afternoon and they witnessed a ruthless Cardiff City side run out 5-0 winners against Jerry Gill’s City team. Republic of Ireland international Collins opened the scoring after just three minutes, turning neatly and beating keeper Coniah Boyce-Clarke with a low shot. The second goal arrived on 19 minutes when Denham powerfully headed home Pack’s corner. Seven minutes later Collins fired home his second after Connolly nodded Pack’s cross back across the six yard box. And eight minutes before the interval Flint fired home to make it 4-0. The visitors changed their whole XI at the interval and the second half was a more even affair, with City seeing much more of the ball. However, they couldn’t find a way past the Championship side and two minutes from time Davies shot into the roof of the net to complete the scoring. Although it was a tough outing on the pitch, the sight (and sound) of 830 fans back in Twerton Park made it a memorable afternoon.
