Swans downed in latest pre-season win

City ran out 3-1 winners this evening in their penultimate pre-season outing against a Swansea City U23 side at the Landore Training Ground. A couple of early shots from Cody Cooke failed to trouble the Swans keeper Defreitas-Hansen before the hosts first sight of goal saw Leveritt shoot just wide of Ryan Clarke’s goal. The opening goal arrived on 22 minutes when a neat build up by City saw Eddie Jones cross for Omar Holness to turn the ball home from six yards out. Swansea levelled after 36 minutes when Dan Ball was harshly adjudged to have blocked a shot with his arm despite being just a couple of yards from the effort. Whittaker took full advantage of the referee’s generosity, sending Clarke the wrong was from the spot. City restored their lead six minutes after the interval when Mo Touray won possession in midfield and held off a defender to set up Alex Fletcher for a great first time finish. And just before the hour mark a poor clearance by the keeper was latched onto by Touray and he took full advantage, rounding Defreitas-Hansen before rolling the ball home. City continued to enjoy the better of the game after this but couldn’t add to the scoring ahead of their final friendly at Hereford United on Saturday.
