Support the women in their first home league match on Sunday

With no men’s football at home until Tuesday, why not come along to the Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park on Sunday to support the Bath City Women First team in their first home league game of the season.

They’re up against Whitchurch Ladies First team in what will be their fourth meeting this calendar year. With one win apiece and a draw in their last encounters, it’s likely to be a hard-fought game. Whitchurch have also started the season strongly, scoring 11 goals in their first two league outings.

Writing in the match day programme, Andrew Stalbow has outlined the new investor group’s hopes for the women’s set up and reflected on what he saw at the first women’s match he attended in person a couple of weeks ago: “One of the things that is important to us about Bath City is the strong set up for women’s football. Having lived in Los Angeles the past 18 years, where women’s ‘soccer’ is huge, we are excited by the potential, and keen to invest time and resources to give the players the opportunity to be the best versions of themselves on the pitch. Quite a few of the investor group joined the project because they were most attracted by the women’s opportunity. The team has come a long way since founding, and we are in the early stages of the journey.

“Vice Chair Richard Rivlin, Global Ambassador Curt Smith and I went to Bath City Women’s opening league match where we won 2-0 away at Paulton Rovers. We were all impressed with the approach and attitude; looking to win possession quickly, playing expansive football and never shirking the battle. It’s the commitment that the supporters remember after the game, and we’ll look for those qualities again in an important test against Whitchurch.”

Charlie’s bar will be open before and after the game. Please note that only card payments will be accepted in Charlie’s from now on, in line with the outside bars.

Kick-off is at 2pm. Season ticket holders and concessions get in for free and entry is just £3 for everyone else.
