Super City down league leaders Pen Mill

Bath City Women produced a superb all-round performance to beat Somerset County WFL Division 1 leaders Pen Mill Ladies by three goals to two at Twerton Park this afternoon. The visitors came into the game boasting a 100% record in the league and when Templer raced clear to score after just two minutes it looked like it could be a difficult afternoon for City. However, within two minutes Annie Hervey levelled from close range after Pen Mill failed to clear a corner. Then just before the half-hour mark another corner kick dropped to Hervey whose shot found the corner of the net to give City the lead. The second half saw City continue to match their high-flying opponent and on 58 minutes Ashanti Golding scored her first goal for the club with a neat finish from inside the six-yard box when yet another corner kick caused havoc in the Pen Mill area. Gratton pulled a goal back in the 69th minute with a long range strike but City stood firm after this against a side who came into the contest averaging over five goals a game to hold out for the memorable victory.
