Match Preview – Farnborough (A) – Ted Pearce Memorial Cup
City conclude their pre-season campaign on Saturday with a trip to National League South side Farnborough. The contest is the fifth Ted Pearce Memorial Cup – in memory of the legendary former Farnborough Town manager.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS
City haven’t tasted defeat at Farnborough since Boxing Day 1996. The Romans have won five and drawn three at the Saunders Transport Community Stadium since, one of those meetings in the FA Trophy. The first fixture between the two was in the FA Cup 1st Round in November 1985, which City won 4-0 with Ted Pearce in the home dugout. Boro’ won 1-0 at Twerton in March thanks to Micah Anthony, a former Bath loanee, popping up with a late goal. The game in Hampshire ended 2-2 in October 2025.

- This is the first pre-season meeting between the two.
- City won four and lost two in matches against Ted Pearce’s Farnborough. The last was a 2-1 defeat at Cherrywood Road in January 1993 with Deion Vernon on target for the Romans. Boro’ were relegated that season which coincided with Pearce’s retirement.
- Joe Raynes’ last two competitive City goals have both been at Farnborough.
- Harry Parsons scored four in 11 outings on loan at Farnborough in 2023.
