Bob Chester to reduce role at end of season

For our commercial sponsors Bob Chester has been the face of the football club for more than 10 years. Bob has almost single-handedly built up the club’s commercial operation, not only selling hoardings, programme adverts and organising the shirt sponsorship draw, but also delivering matchday hospitality in the TR Hayes lounge and much more besides.

So, it is with sadness that we report that Bob has decided to stand down at the end of the season.

In his own words:

“After much thought I have decided that it is time, after 10 years, to considerably reduce my voluntary role in Bath City FC at the end of May. During this time the commercial department has made great strides and the support of many local businesses and fans has led me to meeting so many wonderful people. Their support and involvement with the club has meant a great deal to the club and to me. I hope that I will continue to see many of you on match days next season and I will also still be available to do a few jobs for the club, if required. I have some great memories to look back on. For the remainder of the season I will still be very much involved but will also be looking forward to having my first summer off since 2011 but I will still, however, continue to run the lottery – the Goldline Draw. There is a great group of people involved in the club and I look forward to it continuing to grow and develop in the coming years.”

Nick Blofeld, Club Chair, offered his thanks:

“After over a decade of doing a great job bringing revenue into the club and building some wonderful relationships, please accept a huge thank you from all of us Bob, for your commitment and achievements for the club. And we’re delighted that you’ll still be involved with the club as well as able to enjoy more time for yourself and at matches.”

Peter Headington, our new Commercial Director, commented:

“I would like to add my tribute to the phenomenal job that Bob has done in developing our commercial relationships with so many Bath businesses. While I have only been involved with the club for a few months, I hugely appreciate the tremendous legacy that Bob is leaving.”

Bob will be organising this year’s shirt sponsorship draw, and all entrants will have the chance to say ‘au revoir’ at the draw on May 18th.
