City’s first game under its exciting new ownership takes place tomorrow at Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park but it is against a very familiar opponent in the shape of Chippenham Town.

The A4 Derby returns to the Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park this Saturday. It’s the ninth season in a row the clubs have competed in the same division after both were relegated last term, with City’s 1-0 win on Good Friday thanks to Scott Wilson’s last gasp winner significantly denting the Bluebirds’ hopes of survival. It was the Romans’ first win at Twerton over Chippenham since 2 January 2022 and Scott Bartlett’s maiden victory as boss. It also gained revenge for a 3-2 loss at Hardenhuish on Boxing Day when Harry Parsons was among the goals for the Wiltshire outfit.
Bath City’s first ever league game was against Chippenham Town – a 2-0 success on 5 October 1901 at the Belvoir Ground. H Gover netted in the first half with L Leakey after the break. City’s line-up for that historic match was: Fox, Miller, Davey, Hosken, Hitchcock, Allen, Ash, Hyman, Leakey, Golledge, Gover.

- This is the first time the clubs have met in the Southern League since April 2007. City won 1-0 in an Easter Monday fixture with Martin Paul, who represented both clubs, netting the winner.
- Scott Bartlett and Darren Way both oversaw their first wins as Bath City manager against Chippenham. Way’s team won 3-0 at Hardenhuish on Boxing Day 2024.
- Scott Wilson scored a brace in that contest, the first was his 50th goal for the club and he has netted five in the A4 Derby.
- Having made his 300th appearance last week, if Joe Raynes starts it’ll be his 250th league start for the club. Raynes netted the winner in this fixture in 2019.
- Dan Greenslade, Ollie Tomlinson, Kieran Parselle, Owen Windsor, Harrison Minturn, Harry Parsons and Callum Wood are all former Chippenham players. For Chippenham, Marley Rose made a handful of appearances for the Stripes and Ethan Lindo was an unused substitute twice last season.
- Town boss Gary Horgan made a handful of appearances for City in 2002, alongside Minturn’s father Andy, while Matt Coupe made 369 across two spells at Twerton, with one of his eight goals in a 1-1 draw with Chippenham.
