Woodspring deny City in Twerton Park finale

City concluded their home campaign with a goalless draw against Woodspring Women this afternoon. Despite dominating the game for long spells they couldn’t find a way past the resolute visitors backline. Tara Taylor saw a well-struck early shot tipped over the bar by keeper Sims before Tamzin Dunne hit the outside of the post from a narrow angle. Further chances came and went for the Romans before the interval. After the break Woodspring began to see more of the ball but it was still City pressing for the breakthrough. With two minutes left it looked like Tanea Wright had finally broken the deadlock only for Sims to produce a great save with her legs and moments later the whistle signalled City’s first goalless draw of the season. Results elsewhere mean City will go into their final game of the season away to Wellington Ladies in two weeks time knowing a win will secure the runners-up spot. A full match report will follow shortly.
