Wilson strike not enough deny Ambers

Scott Wilson’s 20th goal of the season was not enough to prevent City slipping to a 2-1 defeat against Cheshunt this afternoon. The home side came into the game knowing that anything less than victory would almost certainly condemn them to relegation back to the Isthmian League and they struck first on 30 minutes when Charles skipped past several challenges before lifting the ball past Max Harris. They almost doubled their lead before the break when a shot came back off the inside of the post. Wilson had twice got behind the Ambers back line during the first half but fail to hit the target. However, four minutes after the break he did brilliantly to keep the ball in play before beating Desbois with a neat finish. City were on top now but it was Cheshunt who grabbed the three points 13 minutes from time when Obiero was sent clear to confidently fire past Harris.
