The Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park to host outdoor screening of Kes for Ken Loach’s 90th birthday
Bath City are delighted to announce that The Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park will play host to a very special outdoor film screening on Thursday 10 September 2026, when acclaimed director Ken Loach’s 1969 classic Kes will be shown on the pitch as part of the celebrations for his 90th birthday.
Organised in partnership with FilmBath, the evening will see the stadium transformed into an open-air cinema, with the pitch itself providing the backdrop for the big screen. Doors open at 7pm, with the film starting at 8pm and the evening expected to finish by around 10pm.
Kes tells the story of Billy Casper, a Yorkshire teenager whose life is changed forever when he begins training a kestrel. Described as “tender, truthful and deeply humane,” the film has remained a landmark of British cinema for more than 50 years, and its director has long been a supporter of Bath City.
Loach’s connection to the club makes a fitting and meaningful venue for this celebration, and all profits from the evening will be shared between the football club, FilmBath and local charities of Ken’s choosing.
It’s a genuinely exciting occasion for the club to be able to host an event like this. Bringing a screening of this calibre, in honour of one of British cinema’s most respected figures, to our home is something we’re incredibly proud of. We hope this is just the beginning — as we continue to develop the ground into a true multi-use venue for the whole community, we’re looking forward to hosting many more events like this in the future, alongside the football we all love.
Tickets are available now via Bath Box Office, with flexible pricing options. Don’t miss the chance to enjoy a true British classic under the stars.
