Pre-Season hots up with Robins stalemate

City produced another solid pre-season performance as they withstood League 1 side Cheltenham Town and the hot conditions in a goalless draw at Twerton Park this afternoon. It took a great early double save from Robins keeper Harris to keep out shots from Alex Fletcher and Tom Smith during a lively opening to the game. City were giving as good as they got against the higher division side and Smith saw two further openings come and go. The second half began with Fletcher pulling a shot narrowly wide before Kitan Jaiyeoba failed to direct a Chris Lines cross on target. Just before the hour mark the visitors looked certain to open the scoring only for Kieran Parselle to produce a great goalline clearance. Despite both sides making numerous line-up changes chances continued to fall at both ends of the pitch. Keeper MacDonald doing well to keep out Cody Cooke’s shot and then Joe Wright turning a Guinan header over the bar. City almost grabbed the win in the final minute when a slip by a Cheltenham defender allowed Elliott Frear a sight of goal but MacDonald blocked the shot with his legs.
