Player News – Donovan Wilson

Donovan Wilson is set to continue his football journey at EFL bound Sutton United as a transfer agreement has been made between Bath City and Sutton United.

Given the opportunity to carry on playing in the truncated 2020/21 season, Donovan joined Sutton and was a major part of their success in becoming champions of the National League.

We thank Sutton Chairman, Bruce Elliott, and manager, Matt Gray, for their assistance in our negotiations to achieve a good deal for both clubs and wish them every success in the coming season in League Two.

Although disappointed to see Donovan leave without having the opportunity to show his ability in City colours in front of our wonderful fans, we are pleased to see him return to the EFL. We thank Donovan for his short spell at the Club and wish him every success in the future.

Sutton manager Matt said: ”I’d like to thank Bath City and Jerry Gill for their co-operation over the last three months, firstly with the loan signing and now in making Donovan’s move permanent. They have been a pleasure to deal with. We knew when Donovan joined us on loan that we had a top player, and he showed that with the number of crucial goals he scored in the championship run-in. We’re absolutely delighted to have him now as a permanent signing, and we’re looking forward to him scoring more goals in the EFL”

Upon signing Donovan commented, “I want to thank Jerry and Bath for getting me back enjoying my football again and playing week in, week out. Also for their professionalism in everything that they do, and lastly for how they handled the situation with me going on loan. They’ve been great all the way through it and I appreciate it a lot. I’m absolutely buzzing to finally get it done and signed. Everyone at Sutton has made me feel welcome right from the second I got here. For me it was an easy decision as I’ve enjoyed my time here massively and after speaking with the gaffer it was a move I knew was right for me. It’s been an unbelievable start to my time at Sutton, with getting promoted and helping to create history I couldn’t ask for much more.”
