Next Match – Plymouth Parkway (H) – Southern League Premier South

Tomorrow evening sees City make their first home outing of the new season with Plymouth Parkway undertaking the trip up from Devon to Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS

This is the first meeting between the two clubs. City have played at Plymouth Parkway’s Bolitho Park home once, a 1-1 draw against Truro in September 2023. They return there in the league on Good Friday.

TRIVIA

  • For Bath City, this is the first of three home matches to start a season against sides they haven’t faced before in a league fixture. This last occurred in 1972 when Wealdstone, Minehead and Maidstone United were the first three visitors to Twerton, though the Romans had played Minehead in the Somerset Professional Cup previously.
  • Parkway’s Joel Sullivan made three appearances for City last season at the end of Darren Way’s reign. He scored on his debut on Saturday.
  • Ryan Brett netted against City in September 2012 for Darrell Clarke’s Salisbury in a 3-2 success.
  • City have won 10 and lost nine of their last 19 opening home matches of the season. Their last draw was their last opening home contest in the Southern League – a 1-1 with Tiverton Town in August 2006.
  • This is the first time the Romans have played two league games in the opening four days of a season since 2019 when a 2-0 win over Braintree was followed by a 1-1 draw at Weymouth in National League South.

FORM

  • The Romans kicked off the campaign with a 2-1 win at Sholing having trailed inside 10 minutes.
  • Plymouth Parkway, who finished 11th last season, romped to a 7-0 success v Bracknell Town. It was their first opening day win since September 2020 at Hallen in the Western League.
