Next Match – Nailsea & Tickenham – Away

City are back in Somerset Premier Cup action tomorrow night when they make the short journey to North Somerset to face Nailsea & Tickenham in a delayed 2nd Round tie.

The Swags were formed as recently as 2015 following a merger between Somerset County League side Nailsea Town and Weston Super Mare & District League club Tickenham United. The new club took Nailsea Town’s place in the Somerset County League, finishing in either 2nd or 3rd place during their first four seasons. However, the 2021/22 season saw the club go through the whole campaign unbeaten (25 wins and 5 draws) to secure the title and promotion to the Western League.

They have adapted to the new level impressively, currently sitting in 2nd place with 19 wins from their 26 games, scoring a remarkable 82 goals in the process.

Whist this will be City’s first meeting with the Swags there will be one familiar face in their line-up, goalkeeper Jason Mellor. He spent three seasons with the Romans between 2012 and 2015, making 129 appearances and picking up the 2012/13 player of the season award.
