Next Match – Gosport Borough (H) – Southern League Premier South
City are back in action on Saturday looking to make it six wins in a row when Gosport Borough are the visitors to Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS
While this is the first fixture between the two in Step 3, City and Gosport met frequently in the old Southern League as well as seven cup encounters. The last two contests were in the FA Trophy in 2019. A dour 0-0 draw at Twerton preceded a five-goal thriller in Hampshire four days later in the replay. Quickfire goals from Andy Watkins and Tom Smith had the Romans fully in control against their lower league opponents before the break, however Rory Williams and Chris Flood followed suit midway through the second half. Ryan Brunt had a chance to win it in the dying stages but saw his penalty saved, though he proved the hero in extra time with a fine curling finish.
It ended City’s woeful record at Privett Park, having lost their previous five. The last meeting between these two at Twerton was just over 10 years ago and saw Gary Owers record a 50th win as manager in style with a 4-0 success. Shaquille Hunter and Josh Hutchinson both netted penalties with Nick McCootie and Naby Diallo on target in between. Gosport were relegated at the end of that season and have played in Southern Premier South since.

TRIVIA
- Pat O’Flaherty was the only goalkeeper to save a Ryan Brunt penalty against City, aided by the spot being deliberately scuffed. He netted his other seven excluding shootouts.
- Tom Richards was Bath City’s fourth substitute used in that evening win. It was the first time the club had used four in a game.
- Scorer of Gosport’s first goal Rory Williams is current caretaker manager. He initially joined in 2008 from their U19 side and is in his third spell. His first game in charge was Wednesday night – a 3-1 loss at home to Poole – after Jermaine McGlashan resigned due to personal reasons. Williams is Gosport’s third manager this term.
- Billy Bodin scored on his Boro’ debut in their 1-1 draw with Bracknell on 30 September. The forward is son of City legend Paul, who made over 200 appearances for the Romans including three years as manager between 1998-2001.
FORM
- Bath City have won their last five in all competitions, their best sequence of results since August 2025.
- Gosport’s defeat on Wednesday night ended their four game unbeaten spell in the league.
