Match Preview – Hornchurch (A) – Enterprise National League South

City are back in Enterprise National League South action this weekend with a trip to the surprise package of the season so far, Hornchurch. The Urchins come into the game as the last remaining unbeaten side in the league and sit proudly at the top of the table.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS

Saturday is just the fifth meeting between the two. The Romans’ 2012 relegation from the Conference Premier and Hornchurch’s promotion from the Isthmian saw them paired for the first time. City won 3-1 at home in October 2012, Lee Howells’ first home league victory, thanks to goals from Chris Allen, Joe Burnell’s first for the club and Sean Canham. Hornchurch exacted revenge in the return fixture with a 2-1 success, Martin Tuohy and Lewis Smith netting either side of Charlie Griffin’s equaliser. Last year’s contest in Hornchurch was a forgettable 0-0 with the Urchins winning the return at Twerton thanks to Darren McQueen’s brace against the 10-man Romans.
