Eastbourne Borough (1) 2 Bath City (0) 2 – Saturday 28 March 2026 – Enterprise National League South – Connect Management Stadium
Match Report by Mark Stillman.
Will Armitage’s 94th minute header denied Scott Bartlett a winning start as Bath City manager.
Having trailed through Jack Jebb’s early fine finish, Josh Laqeretabua and Alex Fisher fired City ahead after the break.
However bottom markers Eastbourne levelled in the nick of time to extend City’s winless run to 13.
The Romans have now lost eight points from goals conceded in added time, all away from home.
Bartlett made three changes in his first match in charge but without a magic wand at his disposal, it meant a familiar story in the first half where City were largely second best.
Quevin Castro forced Harvey Wiles-Richards into an excellent parry inside 70 seconds when Kai Corbett’s ball from the left was followed by a quick shot and turn.
Wiles-Richards was powerless to prevent their next shot on target.
Corbett’s corner was helped away by the sliding Jordan Alves, but it landed straight to Jebb who thundered into the top left corner from 18 yards before Wiles-Richards could move.
Brad Ash, on his first start in 11 games, acrobatically helped Kieran Parselle’s cross over before Lee Angol’s powerful drive flew just over Wiles-Richards’ crossbar.
Scott Wilson’s loose ball in midfield was collected by Castro who strode forward and laid off to Corbett with Wiles-Richards to the rescue, blocking with his legs.
Harvey Lintott skipped away from Dan Greenslade with ease, but experienced front man Lee Angol got his body shape wrong as he helped the ball wide.
City’s best moments of the half arrived in additional time.
After Dan Quick’s poor clearance gifted possession to City, it eventually reached Ash who spotted Windsor in space to his left.
His strike was fiece but too close to Rohan Luthra who spread himself well to block.
Laqeretabua also skewed wide and despite losing goalkeeper Wiles-Richards to a recurrence of his groin injury at half-time, the momentum remained with City after the break.
They were rewarded with a 52nd minute equaliser.
Alves found room on the edge of the box and his fierce attempt was helped away by Luthra, but only to Laqeretabua who returned with interest, firing superbly into the bottom right corner to give the Eastbourne keeper no chance.
Bartlett made his first two outfield changes just before the hour, replacing Scott Wilson with cousin Donovan Wilson and Fisher for Ruebin Sheppard.
It paid off. Parselle’s free-kick in his own half saw Fisher hold off Quick before his deft touch inside teed himself up for a low finish into the bottom left corner.
Craig Eastmond blazed over and scuffed wide as Eastbourne, searching for their first point under Steve King, sought a leveller.
Corbett’s effort was always rising as a fifth defeat in a row looked likely under their third permanent manager of the season.
That was until a late twist. Having only restricted the Sports to efforts outside the box before, an added time set-piece proved City’s undoing.
Laqeretabua’s daft pull on substitute Harvey Skieters saw Corbett’s dangerous free-kick met by the head of Armitage, who rose above Fisher to expertly loop a header over replacement keeper Charlie Binns.
There was barely any play following the restart as the result leaves both clubs in the bottom two.
