Dulwich inflict heavy home defeat on Romans

City suffered a crushing 4-1 defeat at the hands of Dulwich Hamlet at Twerton Park this evening. The match had started perfectly for the Romans when, with just two minutes on the clock, Donovan Wilson followed up Tommy Conway’s blocked shot with an effort that keeper Grainger allowed to slip through his hands into the net. They couldn’t build on this early gift though as Dulwich began to enjoy the majority of possession. The equaliser finally arrived on 36 minutes, though not without controversy, when Timlin’s free-kick from the left touchline evaded everyone to find the net. The linesman had flagged for offside but the referee overruled him to allow the goal to stand. Two minutes into the second half the visitors took the lead, McGregor converting a cross from eight yards out. City enjoyed their best spell of the game after this but it was Dulwich who moved further ahead on 58 minutes through ex-City striker Moore’s close range finish. And the Hamlet ensured they would secure their first league win of the season with 12 minutes left, substitute Mills blasting home their fourth goal from another perfect cross.
