Day of Recognition for City Foundation

NATIONAL LEAGUE TRUST
DAY OF RECOGNITION
Bath City FC Foundation

Over the last 20 months football has played a vital part in helping communities cope with the stress of the pandemic. National League Clubs and their charities have been involved in many local initiatives to help alleviate the impact of lockdown and restrictions. They have continued to deliver activities and support partners through this difficult time. Over the weekend of the 12th to 14th November, the National League Trust* and the League are celebrating their contribution.

Bath City FC and its charity, the Bath City FC Foundation, have continued to support their local community through the pandemic and beyond, a time when many families and young children were left isolated and unable to attend school, access school resources or provide activities.

The Foundation worked in partnership with:

Fareshare Southwest to provide food parcels for 80 families living close to Twerton Park, the home of Bath City FC. These deliveries took place over the Christmas period and February half term.

Bath Rugby Foundation and other partner organisations to provide activities over the summer and Christmas times through the Breakout programme which included food resources and meals for those attending. These sessions took place over 4 venues – Castle Primary school in Keynsham, St Michaels Junior School in Twerton, Welton Rovers FC and Combe Down Rugby Club. The project has engaged over 150 young people and additionally parents and family members

Bath Mind, where zoom meetings were set up to provide regular contact and activities and additional one to one support was provided where possible, including walk and talk activities and one to one football sessions. These sessions had a focus of improving and supporting mental health and wellbeing. Over the pandemic there have been 20 participants engaged in activities throughout this time on a weekly basis

Curo (Housing Association) and other local partners including 3SG and AGE UK BANES have been helping to support the Reconnecting Twerton project which aims to support those over 60 years of age that may be living in social or digital isolation and provide them with regular phone calls, one to one meetings, activities and connections. The project has been supporting 14 members of the local community on a regular basis.

MAN v FAT, has provided the male Bath community with the opportunity to combat weight loss since lockdowns have ended. The Bath league has seen over 40 adult males with a BMI of 27+ all try achieve at least a 5% loss of body weight during their time with the programme. The Foundation have been running the league since May 2021 and in that time have been featured on BBC Points West and have seen 3 members achieve over 20%, 15 over 10% and 21 over 5%.

Bath City FC is proud of the work carried out by our charity. There will be a bucket collection at next Saturday’s game v Concord Rangers and 10% of net gate receipts will also be donated to the Foundation.

*The National League Trust is a charity that offers grant aid towards the support and development of community projects at clubs in the League. Funding is made possible by the generous support of the Premier League and the Professional Footballers’ Association Charity, who have committed to support the Trust until 2022. They will each contribute to a donation of £1.2m a year during this period.
