Cooke double secures Concord victory

A Cody Cooke double saw City’s return to winning ways at Concord Rangers this afternoon. Having missed the last two games injured the Romans top scorer took just six minutes to mark his return with a great header from a Chris Lines corner. And he added a second half penalty to secure the points and a first league win for a month. After great start to the game City continued to enjoy the better of the first half, Dan Hayfield, twice, and Alex Fletcher going close to increasing their lead. Concord had shown little as an attacking threat but they began the second half on top as City found themselves pressed back. However, they stood firm and just before the hour mark a rare break forward saw Scott Wilson felled in the box and Cooke made no mistake from 12 yards. The game became increasingly scrappy after this and City suffered few scares in seeing the game out and returning back west with a welcome three points.
