Club legend Jim Rollo steps down

After twenty years at the club, Jim Rollo has decided to call time on his involvement at Bath City as assistant manager. A player, captain, caretaker manager and assistant manager, Jim has been a loyal servant of the Romans and always performed in the best interests of his colleagues on and off the pitch.

Work and family commitments have combined to lead Jim to this decision and, while it will seem strange that he will not be so closely involved, we understand his decision and wish him well.

Jim will always be welcome at the club and we hope to see him back at Twerton Park in the near future.

Manager Jerry Gill commented: “I have to give a huge thank you to one of my best mates and long-term assistant Jimbo. We have lived and breathed this job together and had some very memorable times on and off the pitch. Jim has had to step away due to personal reasons not connected to football. I had to be respectful of his decision and I know it was probably one of the toughest ones he has ever had to make. He will be sorely missed by us all but we have made a pact to still meet weekly for coffee as we have formed such an amazing friendship. The board has confirmed that we will honour a long overdue testimonial for Jim, and I will be chairing the organising committee. I am sure we will see Jim in the near future watching us from a more unfamiliar position in the stands. Thanks for everything my friend, I promise I will call you only once a day now!”

Football Chair Paul Williams said: “It has been a huge pleasure to work with Jim throughout my time at the club. Cheerful and positive, Jim has led from the front and always been there to help out when needed.”

Jim had this message for everyone:

“There are no goodbyes from me, when you love the club as much as I do, it will always be in my heart. Thank you for the most amazing memories. Once a Roman Always a Roman.”

Jim.

Thank you to a club legend.
