City resurgence continues as they end Peacocks long unbeaten home run

City recorded their first away win since the opening game of the season against Taunton Town at Wordsworth Drive this evening. Early goals from Scott Wilson and Harry Parsons set City on their way to the three points, before Donovan Wilson secured the win with a second half strike shortly after the Peacocks had pulled a goal back.

With just five minutes on the clock Pedro Elawar’s cross-shot found Scott Wilson at the back post for a simple tap-in. Seven minutes later Taunton failed to clear Ollie Chamberlain’s cross and the ball dropped to Parsons to drill it home from six yards. A speculative long-range effort from Moulden was brilliantly tipped over by Harvey Wiles-Richards – on his 100th appearance for the Romans – who then blocked another effort from the resultant corner. Taunton’s direct approach continued to look dangerous but it was City who spurned two great chances to increase their lead before the interval. Donovan Wilson failed to get a touch on Elawar’s great low cross then Parson’s blazed over from 12 yards.

Taunton finally got back in the game on 58 minutes. Unsurprisingly it was a long ball forward that Harrison Minuturn misjudged allowing Seymour to cross for Robinson to steer the ball home. Eleven minutes later City restored their two-goal lead. Substitute Enzio Boldewijn picked out Donovan Wilson and he had the time and space on the edge of the box to fire a low shot into the net off the post. Both sides had chances to add to the scoring after this but City had done enough to end the Peacocks unbeaten home record that stretched back to November 2025.
