City down Seagulls to lift County Cup

Bath City Women lifted the Somerset FA Junior Cup with a superb 2-1 win over Weston Super Mare this evening at Brislington FC. After a cagey first half ended goalless City went in front on 53 minutes. Libby Goater saw her shot hit the post and spin across the line before striking the other upright but Jasmine Rennie reacted quickest to stab the ball home. Just before the hour mark keeper Sadie Farley produced a great save with her legs to deny Khandusenko. City doubled their lead in the 72nd minute through substitute Adella Clarke’s header. With eight minutes left the Seagulls pulled a goal back through Jones. Weston pressed for an equaliser to take the game to penalties and, in the final minute of stoppage time, Crew’s shot looked to have done just that, but Farley produced a stunning full-length save to secure a first ever piece of silverware for the side.
