City dig deep to keep Dover out

City produced a resilient defensive performance to secure a point in a goalless draw against Dover Athletic at Crabble Athletic Ground this afternoon. After an even first half City came under considerable pressure from the home side after the break but an excellent performance from the defensive triumvirate of Jordan Dyer, Jack Batten and Kieran Parselle ensured a second clean sheet of the week. The first half saw a looping header from Dyer drop just wide of the goal and the returning Cody Cooke fire a shot narrowly over. The Whites main threat came from set pieces – one late in the half in particular causing panic in the City six-yard box – but after the interval they penned City back for long spells. However, only once was Max Harris really tested, diverting a long range shot onto the bar, as City defended superbly to ensure their longest away trip of the season would not end empty handed.
