City denied by controversial late goal

Nat Goodright’s controversial 95th minute leveller cost Bath City Women two points at Royal Wootton Bassett Town Ladies. Tara Taylor’s stunning 49th minute strike, her first of the season, put the Romans ahead. The Wiltshire side had squandered a few first half openings but struggled in the second shooting up the slope with the wind against them. Mollie Harvey had a chance to make it 2-0 late on but she poked wide, and it proved pivotal as the hosts snatched a draw. Laura Jefferies’ near post corner appeared to be handled by Libby Davies, and with Sadie Farley obstructed the ball fell to Goodright who placed home from 10 yards in one of the last touches of the game. The point keeps City’s unbeaten 2024 intact and realistically they need seven points from nine available to clinch a creditable third. The draw also means Poole Town Ladies are champions.
