City complete pre-season with Yate victory

City completed their pre-season campaign with a fifth win in a row this afternoon, beating Yate Town by three goals to nil at Lodge Road. In a one-sided first half City went in front on 15 minutes when Miles Welch-Hayes crossed for Marvin Morgan to head past Rivers, despite the keeper getting both hands to the effort. Ten minutes later it was 2-0 as Naby Diallo raced clear of the Yate defence before confidently slotting the ball wide of the advancing Rivers. Playing down the slope in the second half the hosts enjoyed more of the play but they were largely restricted to long range efforts and it was City who completed the scoring on 68 minutes – Connor Lemonheigh-Evans crossing for Jamie Lucas to fire into the top corner of the net.

Gary Owers and his squad can now turn their attention to the start of the 2017-18 Vanarama National League South next Satuday and the trip to newly promoted Bognor Regis. There are still seats available on the Supporters coach and details can be found here.
