Boro cruise to Ted Pearce Memorial Cup win in final City friendly

City ended their pre-season campaign with a 3-0 defeat to Farnborough in the Ted Pearce Memorial Cup at the Saunders Transport Community Stadium this afternoon.

After a couple of close escapes City fell behind on twelve minutes when Barratt cut inside from the left-flank and beat Harvey Wiles-Richards at his near post. Parker and Frost came close to doubling the home side’s lead. City’s only real chance in the first half saw Owen Windsor’s 37th minute shot clear the bar. The half ended with Wiles-Richards saving well from Reindorf’s shot.

Five minutes into the second Jack Batten tripped Okoye in the box and Barratt sent Wiles-Richards the wrong way from the penalty spot. And Farnborough ensured they would lift the Ted Pearce Memorial Cup at the final whistle with a third goal on 75 minutes thanks to Bloomfield’s neat header.
