Bath City Youth U15 Girls double triumph

Following a tough game in the Somerset U16s County Cup final at the beginning of May, which the girls eventually narrowly lost after going ahead in the first half, the U15 Gladiators were back to winning ways with their closing games of the season over the last two weekends.

In a must win league decider held at Mangotsfield, the girls eventually ran out as 3-2 winners against Tyrone Mings Academy to retain the Wiltshire League for a second consecutive year!

It was a game that had everything and with a draw being enough for TMA, a well taken goal by Bath in the middle of the second half set up a tantalising end to the game.

Down to 10 players for the last 10 minutes, the girls showed tremendous grit and determination not least under significant pressure, to eventually hold onto their one goal advantage the win the match, much to the their own immense joy and indeed relief of the parents!

Having secured the league, attention then turned to the Wiltshire cup final, the last game of the domestic season and to be held at Swindon’s County Ground.

Coming into it on a high having secured the league, the Bath girls took the game to Highworth from the first whistle. Quite how we weren’t 2 up in the first 15 minutes I don’t know but with such dominant one sided performance, 4-0 was a comfortable win that could have been a lot more.

To complete an amazing season, the U15 girls lifted another trophy, culminating in securing the double and back to back league titles.

With the domestic season now complete, attention turns to the continent where the girls are heading on tour to Belgium to compete in the Hageland cup at the end of May over the bank holiday.
