Amy Key’s quickfire first half brace helped Bath City seal their biggest win of the season over bottom of the table Ridgeway.

Substitute Mollie Harvey cemented the victory with a double of her own, her first goals for the club, after Ridgeway striker Verity Dixon pulled one back earlier in the second half.

The Romans were dominant throughout and could have won more convincingly but for a combination of good goalkeeping and poor finishing.

Key gave the Stripes the lead after just seven minutes. Ruby Black broke down the right and squared the ball to the unmarked striker, allowing her to easily tap home from three yards.

The in-form forward doubled Bath’s lead four minutes later after goalkeeper Lois Collins failed to clear Emily Dellow’s cross and volleyed the ball off Key, leaving her to finish into an open net – her third goal in two games.

Collins made amends with a fine save to her left from Key, before Dellow wastefully side-footed wide from 10 yards in a one-sided opening 45.

Bath’s lead was surprisingly halved five minutes after the break by Dixon, who after getting the better of Rhy Jefferies drilled the ball tidily into the bottom right hand corner.

Following this shock goal, the first half trend returned with Bath dominating and they extended their lead midway through the second half.

Tanea Wright’s pin-point corner was met by Harvey 12 yards out, who expertly nodded past the unsighted Collins.

A marvellous parry by the hobbling Collins from Abby Gray’s header kept the score down but she had a moment to forget as City rounded off the scoring on 81 minutes.

After good work by Wright, Harvey expertly turned past Tia Konigkramer just inside the box and squeezed the ball under the Ridgeway stopper at her near post to rubber-stamp back-to-back successes for Matt Abreu’s team.
