Bath City FC Foundation Update

The Foundation goes from strength to strength and currently has 875 beneficiaries, all children, young people and adults in our local community.  Our dedicated team of coaches, led by Project Manager Geoff Stevens, are supporting issues relating to health and wellbeing such as holiday hunger, mental ill-health, poverty, loneliness and general fitness.

Our Premier League Primary Stars programmes in local schools support children with maths and literacy and we are in local primary and secondary schools with football sessions and PE curriculum support.

Our holiday hunger programmes were established in 2018 with FairShare at St Michaels Primary School and, thanks go to Marcus Rashford for raising awareness of this national problem. Did you know that 35% of children in Twerton live in poverty? We are linked to the Twerton Community Network to keep up with the key areas of need and issues affecting our community.

Our pathway for Girls’ and Women’s Football in Bath is forging ahead and we are delighted to see more girls and women joining our sessions this term.  We deliver a brilliant Women’s session at Odd Down on Monday evenings from 7.30-8.30pm, with 35 regular players and continue to see new faces each week. We have linked with Bath City Youth which is a wonderful partnership, not only showing our support in development of the female game but sharing facilities and offering other opportunities for the Bath City family including holiday sessions for girls and boys at Bath Rec. We have our new Wildcats sessions starting at Odd Down on Wednesday afternoons from 4.15pm – 5pm which offers opportunities for 5-11 year old girls to have a taste of playing football.

We have partnered with Bath Mind offering session at Bath Rec, enabling people to have support around mental health and wellbeing through regular football sessions. We are seeing around 10 -15 people at each session and if anyone would like to attend, the sessions are free and run on a Monday from 10.30am – 11.30am for adults.

We have a lively walking football session for 50+ men and women at Odd Down Sports Ground and welcome new players on Wednesdays at 10.30am.

The Foundation is a charity run by a group of Trustees, volunteers and paid coaches.  We are recruiting new Trustees to our Board and are keen to receive applications from people from all backgrounds with an interest in Bath City FC and particularly with experience in finance, marketing, fundraising or third sector, please contact Helen Donovan, Chair of Trustees at info@bathcityfoundation.org.
