Bath – Bristol University Staff Football Match

A sunbathed Twerton Park played host to the annual Bath – Bristol Staff Football Varsity match last Sunday. The game featured academic and support staff from across the two local universities who compete yearly against each other for the Varsity trophy. This year’s event raised money for Bath City Football Club and the Ukrainian humanitarian appeal.

The match itself did not disappoint with the University of Bristol scoring either side of half time only to be pegged back by two late University of Bath goals with the game ending 2-2. A penalty shootout at the Bath End followed where the University of Bristol secured a dramatic 4-2 victory.

The organisers of the University of Bath and Bristol Staff Football clubs expressed their sincere thanks and appreciation to all connected with Bath City Football Club for what was a special and memorable occasion. The Bath – Bristol Staff Football Varsity trophy is due to be presented at half-time of Saturday’s home game against Tonbridge.
