City mark bring century up with comeback Stockwood victory

Bath City Women marked their 100th first team game in perfect fashion this afternoon with a 3-1 win over Stockwood Wanderers at Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park.

The game started off in the worst possible way when Jess Evans suffered a serious knee injury in the opening minute. The visitors then took the lead on seven minutes when a corner found the net despite the efforts of Tara Taylor and Lucy Clay on the line. City overcome this double early set-back to dominate the rest of the game. Adella Clarke had already seen one effort come back off the post before her neat turn and finish brought City level on 35 minutes.

City continued to dominate into the second half and the pressure finally told just past the hour mark when the impressive Paula Abboud won possession and was tripped just inside the area. She stepped up to drive the penalty confidently down the middle. And Abboud completed the win in the final minute, steering home Brooke Stevenson-Smith’s deep cross.
