Evesham United (0) 0 Bath City (0) 2 – Tuesday 13 October 2026 – Southern League Premier South – The Spiers & Hartwell Stadium
Match Report by Mark Stillman.
Second half goals from Jordan Tillson and Alex Fisher were enough as Bath City ground out a win at Evesham United.
Harvey Wiles-Richards recorded his first away league clean sheet of the year as the Romans made it six wins in seven.
Tillson’s deflected effort was his first goal of 2026, with Fisher’s penalty his first league goal this term.
The win, played in front of the lowest attendance for a Bath City league game since December 2022, leaves Scott Bartlett’s side four points behind leaders Poole Town, who didn’t play.
While City’s goalscorers had a combined age of 69, Evesham’s starting XI combined seven aged 22 and under.
Scott Wilson, 34 in January, was recalled for his 200th appearance as fellow 33-year-old Enzio Boldewijn made way.
Ollie Tomlinson also made the cut despite an accident on the M5 delaying his arrival until 7pm.
Harrison Minturn’s header was batted behind by Oscar Varney in the Romans’ first chance as their set-piece threat nearly proved fruitful again, a continuing theme this season.
Kai Churchley was the first to test Wiles-Richards when he cut inside of Callum Wood to make space, but the keeper threw himself in the way.
From Churchley’s resulting corner, Ioan Richards headed straight at the City glovesman.
City squandered their best opening of the half on 25 minutes.
Tillson’s measured ball over the top saw Pedro Elawar get the better of Jyrel Bojang before putting it on a plate for Harry Parsons.
The onrushing attacker arrived late but side-footed wide from 12 yards when he should have tested Varney.
Richards nodded Churchley’s hanging free-kick over and Wood headed onto the roof of the net as a mediocre half reached a quiet conclusion with neither side doing enough to break the deadlock.
After an improved start following the restart, City took a 52nd minute lead.
Matt Bowman held the ball up well near the byline and played back to Tillson, whose 25-yarder skimmed off the head of Richards and flew out of Varney’s reach.
Evesham boss Mike Ford was cautioned in the aftermath for protesting over a supposed foul in the build-up and his young side took their frustration out on City by upping their energy levels and pressing higher up the field.
Thomas Conteh’s long throw led to Brandon Liggett’s effort being deflected wide, and the same player slid Conteh’s pull back off target when he should have left the ball for either Stephen Walsh or Churchley.
Ford’s side scored the fewest in Southern Premier South last season as they avoided relegation on goal difference, and they were profligate again when Churchley did well to spin and shoot across goal, but no teammate gambled on a tap in.
Reuben Reid’s shot through a crowd of bodies from Enzio Boldewijn’s free-kick was well claimed by Varney.
United thought they’d snatched a leveller with five minutes remaining.
Churchley’s free-kick was spilled by Wiles-Richards but when trying to claim the rebound the ball appeared to be kicked out of his hands by Conteh, with Liggett forcing home.
Referee Aaron Ford immediately blew for a foul and the City players breathed a sigh of relief.
They eased any lingering nerves in the final minute of the 90.
Seweryn Streczen was beaten in the air by Richards, but fellow substitute Fisher was onto the loose ball on the edge of the box.
He attempted to lift the ball into the top corner but Liam Hutt threw himself in the way and the ball struck his outstretched arm for a penalty.
With regular taker Wilson already subbed, Fisher took responsibility and hammered it into the bottom left corner with Varney at full stretch.
While it wasn’t the most fluent of displays, the experienced Romans did enough against their youthful counterparts to win three straight away games for the first time since September 2023.
