Pen Mill Ladies (0) 0 Bath City Women (2) – Sunday 6 September 2026 – Women’s FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round – Johnson Park
Match Report by Mark Stillman.
Bath City Women eased into the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round thanks to a one-sided win at Pen Mill Ladies.
Having struggled past Paulton Rovers in the previous round, goals from Jess Evans, Rosie Burridge and Sophie Storey helped the Romans to a straightforward success against the lower leaguers.
Any lingering nerves were eased on nine minutes when City netted during a dominant opening.
Brooke Steventon-Smith’s throw saw Burridge head on to Evans, whose effort deflected off Charlotte Lewis and wrong-footed keeper Alisha Barker.
Sharna Keay kept a Burridge effort off the line, Barker shovelled Evans’ attempt away and Steventon-Smith went close twice as Pen Mill remained camped in their own half.
A second arrived just before half-time when Storey’s perfectly weighted through ball saw Burridge in the clear, and she effortlessly side-footed past the exposed Barker.
The second half was similarly one-way traffic. Burridge wastefully helped Evans’ pinpoint cross wide but a third duly arrived on 57 minutes.
The impressive Evans looped the ball on to Storey, who controlled well and hammered over Barker from 18 yards.
Pen Mill’s overworked keeper kept out Abby Gray’s close range header and did enough to thwart Burridge in added time after Tanea Wright played into her path.
The dominant display highlighted City’s progression having lost 4-0 at Pen Mill almost exactly four years ago in the club’s previous trip to the Yeovil Sports & Social Club – their first competitive match.
They’ll now travel to fellow Tier 6 side Bishops Cleeve in the next stage to try and reach the 3rd Qualifying Round for the first time.
City’s Line-Up: Clay; Gray, Trivett, Allan; Steventon-Smith, Fry (Wright 66), Bloomfield, Evans (Dawson 76); Storey; Burridge, Clarke.
Scorers: City – Evans (9); Burridge (42), Storey (57); Pen Mill – none
