Cirencester Town Ladies (0) 1 Bath City Women (2) 2 – Sunday 19 July 2026 – Pre-Season Friendly – The Talent Hire Stadium
Match Report to Mark Stillman.
Rosie Burridge’s double saw Bath City Women kick-off pre-season with a victory at Cirencester Town Ladies.
The usual centre-back, who only scored three last season, was given a new role up top and it proved worthwhile with a first half brace.
Brooke Steventon-Smith was the only new addition available for Matt Abreu’s depleted side.
Despite being shy of several regulars, they showed a lot of promise against opposition in the same tier as them, with Jodie Bailey’s cross-shot proving consolation for the Gloucestershire team.
City took the lead on 11 minutes with their first attack. Beth Edwards’ clever ball behind saw Maddy Brown initially forced wide of goal, but her low centre from the byline was perfect for Burridge to hammer in from two yards out.
Annie Martin diverted a free-kick over in Cirencester’s best chance of the half before City made it 2-0 five minutes before the break.
Sophie Storey’s superb through ball put Burridge clear of the defence and she took a couple of touches before confidently firing across Ellie Law.
The second half was devoid of chances as the searing heat took effect on the players, but Ciren pulled one back from nowhere with 15 minutes left.
Benefitting initially from a rare Lara Allan slip, Bailey’s intended cross from the back post sailed over the back-peddling Lucy Clay to halve the deficit.
City’s well-organised defence restricted the hosts to strikes from distance which seldom troubled Clay as they saw out the game well to make a confident start to the summer.
City’s Line-Up: Clay; Bellotti, Trivett, Allan; Steventon-Smith, Bloomfield, Storey, Rennie; Edwards, Brown; Burridge. Subs used: Kozlowska, Charlesworth.
Scorers: City – Burridge (11, 43); Cirencester – Bailey (75)
