City narrowly beaten by champions-elect Royal Wootton Bassett
Despite giving them a late scare City slipped to a 3-2 defeat against title-chasing Royal Wootton Bassett Town Ladies at Gerard Buxton Sports Ground this afternoon. An early own goal by Katie Davis gave the home side but City levelled midway through the half thanks to Emma Vilday’s neat finish. Bassett restored their lead through Mugford to go into the break ahead. Gulliver increased their lead in the second half before Darcey headed a late corner into her own net to make it 3-2. However, despite Adella Clarke hitting the bar City couldn’t deny the Wiltshire side the win to leave them on the brink of securing the league title.
City’s final game of the 2025/26 season takes place next Sunday against Downend Flyers at Pomphrey Hill Playing Fields (ko.2pm)
