Match Report by Mark Stillman.
Tori Taylor’s goal was enough to consign Bath City Women to a second successive defeat.
The Royal Wootton Bassett Town captain netted soon after half-time to maintain their title push in a highly competitive race, leaving City nine points off the top.
It proved to be a classic away performance from the Wiltshire outfit, whose strong defensive record was evident as they proved impossible to break down.
Bex Fry’s long-ranger was fingertipped wide by Millie Powell with Adella Clarke scooping a difficult chance over after Tara Taylor’s first time ball in.
Those were the only meaningful attacks for either side in a forgettable first half, but Town took their first opening after the break.
City failed to clear their lines in the box and it eventually fell to Tori Taylor, who hooked in from six yards.
Emma Vilday fired just over when Jasmine Rennie’s corner was half cleared to her just inside the box as the Romans searched for an instant reply.
Briony Hurd was perfectly placed to block Vilday’s goalbound effort to demonstrate the away side’s determination.
City also won a series of corners but the away defence, having conceded a mere seven in 11 going into the game, looked comfortable until a stoppage time burst from the Romans.
Powell spilled Burridge’s speculative strike but Beth Edwards was unable to force home the rebound.
Maddy Brown went down in the aftermath with no penalty awarded, and in continued pressure Fry saw her free-kick tipped away by Powell.
Bassett survived to record their fourth away clean sheet in a row, leaving City’s title hopes looking slim.
