AFC Brislington Ladies (1) 1 Bath City Women (0) 3 – Sunday 22 February 2026
Shield Services Group SW Regional WFL Div 1N – Ironmould Lane
Match Report by Mark Stillman.
Three second half goals helped Bath City Women overcome an early scare at AFC Brislington Ladies.
Nell Bloomfield, Rosie Burridge and Beth Edwards netted in a game marred by a late injury to Clodagh Moran.
Bottom of the table Brislington took a shock lead on 12 minutes. Rhianna Ben-Carew’s harmless cross was spilled by Lucy Clay, allowing Libby Sims the easiest of tap-ins.
Bex Fry, Jasmine Rennie and Adella Clarke all hit the crossbar for City, while Sims also struck the goal frame with a thumping free-kick from 25 yards.
Having continued the pressure after the break, Matt Abreu’s side levelled on 53 minutes.
Maddy Brown’s hanging corner saw Bloomfield arrived unopposed to nod in from six yards.
From then on it was largely one-way traffic. Kia Houghton did well to hold Clarke’s strike from underneath her crossbar but she couldn’t do enough to prevent a second.
Again it was from a corner, one of several won after the break. This time Taylor’s delivery was powerfully connected by Burridge with Houghton only able to help it into the roof of the net.
After long spells of possession, an inevitable third arrived with a minute remaining.
Sophie Storey found Rennie on the left, who beat Casey Quick for pace before squaring to Edwards.
The substitute cut inside and planted her shot inside the bottom right post to clinch three points.
The final action of the game saw Moran land heavily after trying to flick the ball over Katie Short.
She was later confirmed to have broken her wrist to put a dampener on a sixth straight success for Abreu’s in-form side.
