Bath City (0) 0 Weston Super Mare (0) 0 – Tuesday 24 February 2026
Enterprise National League South – Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park
Match Report by Mark Stillman.
Bath City and Weston-super-Mare drew a blank in a largely forgettable Somerset Derby.
Neither side recorded a shot on target as defences dominated at Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park.
Weston’s George Robesten was given his marching orders for lashing out at Joe Raynes late on in the game’s only real flashpoint.
For City it was a much-improved defensive display as Charlie Binns kept his first league clean sheet.
Donovan Wilson was ruled out with tightness in his hamstring which saw Luke Russe recalled.
A family matter meant Alex Fisher arrived close to kick-off when he was penned in to start. With a lack of attacking options, full-back Joe Raynes was thrown up front alongside Owen Windsor.
The visitors enjoyed more of the ball in the first half without testing Binns. Leo Pecover sent an ambitious curler over inside 10 minutes before Russe’s volley for City sailed harmlessly wide after Dan Greenslade’s long throw was only partially cleared.
Jaiden Putman’s superb block from Luke Coulson’s goalbound effort prevented any scares and former Roman Luke Spokes pulled wide following a Will Dawes lay-off.
Shooting up the slope in the second half, City enjoyed more possession as Weston’s performance dipped, leaving 21-goal striker Louis Britton isolated up top.
City mixed up their front line with Fisher on for Matt Bowman, allowing Raynes to drop back into his preferred full-back role.
Russe dragged wide from distance before the Romans had a penalty shout turned down after Windsor went down near the byline following a dangling leg from Dan Ellison.
Referee Steven Swan mulled it over and awarded a corner to relieve the Weston centre-back.
Luke Skinner also missed the target having found room from a Greenslade long throw before a rather tepid affair suddenly boiled over in the 80th minute.
Raynes tussled for the ball with substitute Robesten in front of the away dugout, and in frustration at fending him off, the Weston man swung an arm to the full-back’s face.
Following a brief melee, Robesten was sent off, just 12 minutes after coming on, with Seagulls boss Scott Rogers also picking up a caution before Binns went into the book for delaying the restart.
The visitors’ mindset altered to protect their goal which they did with few worries.
Lively sub Jordan Alves appeared vigorously for a penalty after a push from Ellison but referee Swan was unmoved.
A tame header wide by Britton was the best Weston produced after the break as ultimately neither side did enough to win the game, thus leading to the first draw between the two at Twerton in National League South.
