Bath City (0) 0 Hampton & Richmond Borough (1) 4 – Saturday 21 February 2026
Enterprise National League South – Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park
Match Report by Mark Stillman.
A dismal second half display saw Bath City trounced at home by relegation rivals Hampton & Richmond Borough.
Darren Way’s side had won their last five against the Beavers but had no answer to the visitors, who strengthened as the contest continued.
They were aided by City crumbling as they remain one point clear of the bottom four, albeit with games in hand against those around them.
Luke Skinner looked bright on debut in arguably the only positive during a miserable afternoon.
Hampton were largely on the back foot early on as City wasted a glorious chance inside seven minutes.
Skinner received the ball from Donovan Wilson on the right and crossed for Jordan Tillson, who wastefully headed wide from six yards.
City were punished for their profligacy as the visitors netted with their first meaningful attack.
Matt Bowman’s poor pass in midfield was intercepted by Eduino Vaz, who played a one-two with Kwaku Frimpong before setting Ronan Silva away down the left.
His tidy control saw him make space to cross, and a slight deflection helped it for Max Kretzschmar, who stooped to head home unmarked from six yards.
Again poor finishing let the Romans down as they should have levelled just after.
Owen Windsor’s cross from the left should have been blocked, and while a touch from Luis Fernandez saw it miss Wilson, the ball fell kindly for Jaiden Putman who wastefully slashed over.
Way tweaked the shape of his side to a 4-2-3-1 to match Hampton and it worked initially with Skinner finding room on the right before his daisy cutter was well taken by Dewhurst.
The keeper frustrated the loanee again with a low save to his left before the away side carved the final chances of an entertaining half.
Nana Boateng’s storming run concluded with a slipped pass through to Silva, who was denied by the legs of Charlie Binns.
Sam Deadfield reacted sharpest to the follow-up, cutting inside of Joe Raynes before forcing a tip-over from the City keeper.
They continued the momentum after the break, forcing an early corner when Putman had to slide Fasanmade’s testing delivery behind, before there was a near eight minute hold-up when a spectator under the Popular Side required medical attention.
Five minutes after resumption, Hampton added their second.
Fasanmade chased Silva’s flick, burst past Jack Batten with ease and exploited a gap on the left of the City defence.
His initial shot was saved by Binns’ right leg, but Silva took over and superbly belted home first time from 18 yards.
Boateng’s try from distance ricocheted awkwardly for Binns who did well to fingertip over before
Alexander-Walker’s near post effort was similarly tipped over by Dewhurst.
That was as close as City came to a consolation as two late goals rubbed further salt into the wounds.
The third on 88 minutes saw Frimpong burst away from midfield into the penalty area, before laying off for Paul Field to square for Fasanmade to easily tap in from two yards.
By now City were looking dejected, further glum by the signal of 13 minutes additional time.
Five minutes into them, Reece Grego-Cox rounded off the scoring when Frimpong backheaded to the forward to remained onside and finished with aplomb, kissing the inside of the left post with Binns beaten to clinch Hampton’s first success over the Romans since January 2022 at the Beveree by the same scoreline.
