Bath City (0) 1 Enfield Town (0) 1 – Saturday 29 November 2025
Enterprise National League South – Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park
Match Report by Mark Stillman.
Owen Windsor’s third goal in three home games wasn’t enough as Bath City were pegged back by Enfield Town.
The striker fired City ahead just after the break during their best period of the game, but Billy Leonard’s leveller earned the visitors a point they deserved overall.
The draw was the Romans’ fourth in a row at home in all competitions, their longest sequence since February-April 1998.
It moved Darren Way’s side up a place and four clear of the relegation zone.
The City manager was dealt a blow with Will Jenkins Davies missing out through injury, ending his ever-present run in the league.
His absence wasn’t felt in the opening minute as Windsor reacted sharpest to Mitch Beardmore’s nod-on and flicked across the face of goal.
Town went closer with their first chance.
Nino Adom-Malaki’s corner from their right was met on the volley by Sam Youngs, who struck the base of the post with the recalled Charlie Binns beaten.
Xavier Benjamin tried his luck from 25 yards after the home defence backed off, with his long-ranger just missing the angle of post and crossbar.
Windsor’s effort on the turn deflected wide off the heels of Ruaridh Donaldson and Joe Raynes’ left-footer from the edge of the box rose into the Bristol End terraces.
Youngs ballooned Cian Dillon’s lay-off over in the final action of a scrappy half.
City looked reinvigorated after the break with Raynes inches away from a special goal.
Picking the ball up midway inside the Town half, the full-back caught it sweetly and forced Barrett to fingertip over for a corner, with the ball grazing the crossbar on its way.
The Romans continued to probe and opened the scoring on 53 minutes.
Matt Bowman drove into the box before Donaldson checked his progress.
It ran kindly for Luke Russe who pulled back for Windsor, and the striker lashed in from 12 yards with the ball flying into the top left corner via the thigh of Benjamin.
Soon after it was nearly two. Beardmore’s corner was helped back into the box by Jordan Tillson, and Hayden Bullas’ attempted header fell right onto the left boot of Kieran Parselle.
The captain, on his 150th league appearance, met it sweetly on the volley only for Barrett to react well and tip around his near post.
Beardmore forced Barrett into another save, this time low to his left, after chesting well and creating space for himself just outside the area.
City’s failure to extend their lead came back to haunt them as the visitors’ first real threat in the second half led to a 65th minute leveller.
Dillon got the better of Parselle on the byline and cleverly played it back for the onrushing Leonard, who side-footed past Binns and Raynes on the line from eight yards.
It continued the midfielder’s decent run against the Romans, having scored the winner at Twerton last year from a near identical spot coupled with an assist in January in the reverse fixture.
They nearly had a second just after when Youngs played it through to Lamar Reynolds, whose powerful drive was well held by Binns, left winded by the ferocity of the strike.
Substitute Jordan Alves hammered too close to Barrett after initially benefiting from a Benjamin slip after Windsor located him on the left.
Enfield Town’s only substitute, Olly Davis, proved a livewire against a tiring backline.
His arrowed effort from the edge of the box was batted away by Binns and after Leonard’s corner was cleared to him, his left-footed attempt skidded a yard wide.
With a lack of options to call upon from the bench, Raynes was pushed forward alongside Windsor for the closing stages but there were no scares for the away back three as they made it seven points from nine, while City were left to rue another frustration afternoon at the Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park, with just two home league wins from 10 this term.
