Tara Taylor netted a hat-trick as Bath City Women recorded their joint biggest win since reforming.

The midfielder’s treble, alongside a brace from Sophie Storey and goals from Emma Vilday, Maddy Brown and Abby Gray, saw the Romans cruise to success over bottom markers AFC Brislington.

Taylor opened her account on the quarter hour. Storey dispossessed Libby Sims and played it through to the captain, who took a touch before shooting into the bottom right corner from eight yards past a standstill Kia Houghton.

It was two swiftly after. Erin Duffy’s corner eventually led to Storey teeing up Taylor, who hammered home with ease.

Following sustained pressure, a third arrived on 39 minutes when Vilday robbed Rhianna Ben-Carew, carried the ball forward and steered it into the path of Storey.

The attacking midfielder held off Sims before poking into the bottom corner to celebrate her first goal for the club.

A fourth duly arrived when Jasmine Pither initially did well to thwart Phoebe Walls, but Vilday reacted sharpest with a first time effort on the edge of the box which flew into the bottom left corner.

Houghton juggled Storey’s effort onto the bar just after half-time as City continued with the same intent.

Lucy Clay’s only save of the afternoon saw her snuff out Ben-Carew at her near post, just before Matt Abreu’s team added a fifth.

Duffy was left in oceans of space on the left before unselfishly playing back to Taylor, who side-footed home to complete her first treble for the Stripes.

Substitute Maddy Brown got in on the act when Casey Quick’s clearance was inadvertently helped back into the penalty area by Etse Iluobe, ricocheting nicely for Brown who slammed past the helpless Houghton.

Poppy Spratt wastefully struck wide from Taylor’s lay-off before an unorthodox finish made it seven.

Duffy’s cross was met by the knee of Gray, who somehow looped the ball over Houghton from six yards.

A fine goal in the final minute wrapped up the contest.

Brown and Duffy combined before Storey’s 18-yarder was helped in by Houghton at full stretch.

It equalled an 8-0 victory at Ridgeway in January 2024 and moved City up to fifth.
