Match Report by Mark Stillman.
Wasteful Bath City had to settle for a draw at Stockwood Wanderers.
City recorded 17 shots on goal against Wanderers, who battled away with 11 players to claim a share of the spoils.
Having enjoyed a lot of the ball in the early stages, it took until the 21st minute for City to break the deadlock.
Nell Bloomfield’s through ball slipped past Jemima Seagrove, and Jasmine Rennie dispatched well, firing low and hard past the advancing Ava Vowles.
Sophie Storey shot too close to Vowles after Tara Taylor and Vilday helped tee her up.
A decent save from Vowles low to her left denied Storey after the interval as City continued in the same vein.
Taylor benefitted from a smart turn and cross from Storey to set up Vilday, but the attacking midfielder placed her effort too close to Vowles.
Lucy Clay’s first save wasn’t until after the hour when she cleared straight to Friend, but her looped effort fell straight back into the keeper’s hands.
Rennie fired over when she should have tested Vowles and City’s profligacy came back to haunt them as the hosts equalised midway through the second half.
Clay sold Phoebe Walls short with a throw out, which was intercepted by the alert Lowick Miles.
Her shot came back off the post and Friend was on hand to tap in from a yard out.
City could have regained the lead almost instantly when Bex Fry’s lofted ball over the top found Adella Clarke with Vowles to beat, but her delicate lob sailed narrowly over.
Lowick blasted into the side netting as City failed to clear a set-piece.
The legs of Vowles denied Taylor one-on-one as City couldn’t snatch a late winner, leaving them seventh ahead of Sunday’s visit of winless AFC Brislington.
