Match Report by Mark Stillman.

Bath City Women surrendered a 2-0 lead at home to league leaders Mangotsfield United to lose in added time.

Abby Gray and Adella Clarke got Matt Abreu’s side off to a dream start, but the visitors vastly improved after the break as substitute Brooke Moore popped up with the winner just before full-time.

Following a promising start, City opened the scoring on nine minutes when Taylor’s hanging corner was headed home from Gray from a yard out.

It took just under 90 seconds for the Romans to double their lead.

Jasmine Rennie won the ball on the left for Maddy Brown, whose drilled ball was perfect for Clarke who finished with aplomb, off the base of Amelia Morrish’s right post to make it 2-0.

Morrish just managed to grasp at the second attempt having initially fumbled Clarke’s shot on the turn, and was fortunate to see the striker’s effort deflected wide after Rebecca McKay sliced a clearance in the box, as Abreu’s side impressed against their shellshocked opponents.

Mangotsfield looked a transformed side after the break, nearly pulling one back within a minute of the restart with Adele Elliott’s chip from 30 yards sailing narrowly over the stranded Lucy Clay.

The dangerous forward struck into the side-netting with an explosive effort after turning the home defence before she finally found a way through on 73 minutes.

Having tricked her way towards the byline, Elliott’s shot was too high for Clay at the near post and flew in off the underside of the bar.

Seventy-three seconds later it was 2-2. Lucy Werrett’s cross was headed into the air by Eve Trivett and Emma Brown beat Elliott to the ball to head home off the upright from close range.

It looked like City had done enough to clinch a draw, but a composed finish saw them leave empty handed.

Bryony Higgs’ well-measured ball over the top saw Moore sidestep Clay and squeeze home to complete a stunning turnaround for the away side to make it five wins from five following last season’s promotion.
