Match Preview – Bridgwater United (H) – Francis Hillier Premier Cup 1st Round

City begin their 2025/26 Francis Hillier Premier Cup campaign at Cannon Clarke Stadium @ Twerton Park on Tuesday evening with the visit of Western League Premier Division Bridgwater United.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS

City and Bridgwater have only played in the same division once. In 1975/76 the two made up a seven team Western Floodlit League to take part alongside their main campaigns. Aside from that, 16 of their clashes have been in the Somerset Premier (previously Professional) Cup, with the first in December 1950 which needed a replay at Bridgwater’s old Chilton Park, played some three months after the original first round tie. This is United’s first visit to Twerton since the first leg of the 1982 Somerset Premier Cup Final, a 1-1 draw before the Romans prevailed two days later. City won the most recent contest between the two, a 3-0 success in the FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round in October 2013. Dave Pratt and Chris Allen (2, 1 pen) were on target.
