Twerton Park redevelopment plan update

A supporter asked for an update on where we are with any redevelopment plans for Twerton Park last week. Whilst we have given small updates via the programme notes for the last year, these haven’t always “trickled down” to update a wider audience via the website, so here is a brief overdue update!

As ever these things take time and we are still working with representatives from local organisations on some ideas. This is across the whole site, rather than previously when we had separate ideas for the ground and then for accommodation away from the grandstand and terraces.

By looking at it comprehensively we think we will be able to come up with something that could work for all partners and make use of the ground far more through the week than is currently the case.

Re-purposing rather than demolishing and re-building the grandstand is the objective. As you know, architects can be very creative in designing something dramatically better than we currently have, that could work as “outreach” space for projects for instance. The possibility of a gym would also be great, to work alongside the possible 3G pitch, and allow our Men’s and Women’s teams to train at Twerton rather than at Filton or around Bath. It could then be rented out when we are not using it ourselves.

There is a long way to go, and other options are also being explored. If we are successful in getting some inwards investment that would help the process and also accelerate it
