Bath City Women’s Manager Matt Abreu’s Weekly Thoughts
This Sunday we’re on the road to Cirencester as we look to build on last weekend’s encouraging start to the season.
Our 1–1 draw with Bitton showed plenty of positives. We were disciplined and well-organised in the first half, limiting them to very little, and over the 90 minutes we created more chances. When the game turned in Bitton’s favour during the second half, the team showed real character to respond strongly and finish on top, pushing hard for a late winner.
Cirencester is a fixture that always delivers. Last season produced two memorable battles – a thrilling 5–5 draw and a narrow 2–1 victory in our favour. They’ve started this campaign brightly, scoring seven against Paulton on the opening weekend, so another competitive encounter is expected.
With confidence from our performance against Bitton and the hard work put in on the training ground, the squad heads into this one ready for the challenge. It promises to be another exciting contest between two sides who know how to test each other.
